HOW TO FIND Shenandoah River Outfitters
Please do not use GPS or MapQuest without checking against our directions! Their's have been wrong! or send you an hour out of the way! (if you do use GPS, and it gets you to Mountain View Rd., Keep coming--we are another 1/2 mile!)
Directions from D.C. Area: Beltway 495 to 66W to Exit 43A at Gainesville. Take Rt 29 South to Warrenton. Follow signs to Rt 211 W to Luray. In Luray (follow signs for Shenandoah River Outfitters), take 2nd Exit --340 South Business 200 yards. Turn right onto Rt 675-Mechanic St --name changes to Bixler's Ferry Road--(if you come to the stop light, you went too far). Go 4 miles; cross Shenandoah River, turn right on Rt 684 (S. Page Valley Road), go 6.5 miles to Outfitters on the right. Please park in parking lot behind Store.We're 90 miles from D.C.Beltway.
Alternate route from DC area: 66W to Linville exit, take 522 S to 340S, follow 340 S into Luray, Turn right onto Rt 675-Mechanic St and follow directions above.
From Richmond Area: 64W to Charlottesville, 29N to Ruckersville, 33W to Elkton, 340N to 211E toward Luray app. 6 miles. When you see Rainbow Hill Gift Shop on right, take next left Rt 652 (Airport Rd) for 1.5 miles to stop sign. Turn left on Rt 675 (Bixler's Ferry Rd), go 3 miles; cross Shenandoah River, turn right on Rt 684 (South Page Valley Road), go 6.5 miles to Outfitters. App. 150 miles from Richmond area. Please park in lot behind Store.
From Rt 81 at New Market, VA: Go East on Rt 211 East toward Luray. After crossing mountain, go app. 6 miles, When you see Rainbow Gift Shop on right, take next left Rt 652 (Airport Rd) for 1.5 miles to stop sign. Turn left on Rt 675 (Bixler's Ferry Rd), go 3 miles; cross Shenandoah River, turn right on Rt 684 (S. Page Valley Road), go 6.5 miles to Outfitters. App. 37 miles from New Market. Please park in lot behind Store.

River Levels: http://va.waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?01629500 then scroll down to the bottom. High water is in the 5.5 to 6.2 range, over that the river is flooded. It is best to call us as the water levels changes are not quickly shown in the graphs.
